Premier visiting Prince George next week for BC Natural Resources Forum

Premier David Eby will take centre stage at the Prince George Civic and Conference Centre next week as the opening speaker for the 21st annual B.C. Natural Resources Forum.

Eby will speak to a crowd of about 1,200 delegates expected for the three-day event at the sold-out Celebrating Natural Resources banquet, which starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Leaders from the business and resource sectors, First Nations, provincial/municipal governments, non-government organizations and community groups will gather for discussions around the theme of the conference - Shaping Tomorrow: BC’s Resource Sector and Future Generations.

On Wednesday, the keynote presentations include Indigenous Leadership in BC’s LNG Industry: Pioneering Global Solutions, Building a BC Forest Sector Roadmap to 2030, Plugging In: Electrifying and Economy, Sustainable Energy Solutions, and BC Exports: Where DO We Shop and Why? Long Term Visions for BC’s Export Economy.

On Thursday, the keynote topics will be: Healing the Land: A Vision for Progressive Practices and Land Legacy; Mining: Permitting for Sustainable Development; Where Is The Money: Financial Insights for the Natural Resources Industry; and Indigenous Economic Development as a Key Component to Reconciliation.

Keynote presenters include Crystal Smith, Haisla Nation chief counsellor; Cynthis Hansen, Enbridge president of gas transmission & midstream; Matthew McClaren, CN assistant vice-president of safety; Michael Goehring, president of Mining Association of BC; and Trevor Makadahay, chief of Doig River First Nation.
