Sea to Sky Highway collision

Two vehicles on the Sea to Sky Highway had a head-on collision on June 17.

An off-duty RCMP officer came upon the scene near Furry Creek. While awaiting first responders, one of the vehicles caught fire.

The officer and several bystanders were able to help the other driver exit the vehicle, though the driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses on the scene reported that the vehicle that caught fire had been travelling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The investigation is still ongoing.

Injured hiker on Howe Sound Crest Trail

A hiker on the Howe Sound Crest Trail, near the peak of Binkert Trail,  needed assistance getting off the mountain after sustaining an injury on June 17.

RCMP dispatched the Lions Bay Search and Rescue, who were able to locate and assist the hiker to safety before nightfall.
