's 40th call of the year came on Saturday for a young man in need of help at Brohm Lake.

SAR's B.J. Chute told The ߣÄÌÉçÇø the man had jumped off one of the cliffs at the lake and needed medical assistance.

His friends had assisted him to the shore, but he was still in the water when help arrived.

First responders were able to hike to the scene, stabilize the patient and bring him by SAR's boat to a waiting BC Ambulance. He was then transported to the hospital.

While the man survived the incident, Chute was unable to divulge any more about the youth's condition for privacy reasons.

As a general safety public service announcement, Chute said folks should remember that though warmer temperatures have arrived, lakes and rivers around ߣÄÌÉçÇøare still cold.

"So to be prepared for that," he said, adding that if folks are determined to cliff dive, it is crucial to ensure the area is clear and know the height of the cliffs that they're jumping off, and do so with caution.

Together is better

Chute noted that the response to this incident was an excellent example of how well first responders work together in Squamish.

Members of SAR, Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance co-operated on the call, he said.

"We have a really strong relationship with BC Ambulance in ߣÄÌÉçÇøas well as the fire department, and although it was a serious incident, it really does highlight how well our emergency response system does work in Squamish. I think that this was a particularly impressive rescue by all the organizations involved."
