Be more alert than usual for wildlife around Brennan Park, the District of 撸奶社区warns on June 22.
The District said in a post on its social media channels that caution signs have been installed at Brennan Park Recreation Centre to warn the public of a coyote in the area.
"Please keep children close to adult supervision when on the centre grounds, and staff are asking that dogs are not left tied up outside," reads the alert.
What to do if you spot one
The District advises that if folks encounter a coyote, to make themselves appear larger, maintain eye contact and speak or shout in a low, firm voice.
If the coyote is aggressive and seems to be following or stalking, it is best not to run or turn one's back on it. Throw rocks and arm yourself with a stick. Pick up any small children and back away slowly.
As always, never approach or feed wild animals.
Report coyote sightings to the Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
