Two friends and former classmates have reunited to create a new kinesiology and physiotherapy studio in 撸奶社区called Fall Line Fitness.
Before opening its doors on Queens Way in the industrial area in November, co-founders Danielle Robson and Emilie Whittemore decided that combining their disciplines could create a holistic approach for patients in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
“We wanted to bring together physio and kinesiology under one roof,” said Robson about the new studio. “The space is where you can work as an athlete or you can also work building back from injury or just working on general health.”
Robson and Whittemore met each other while studying at the University of British Columbia about a decade ago. After graduating, Robson would go on to become a practicing kinesiologist while Whittemore became a registered physiotherapist.
Before being in business with each other, both gained experience working with various clientele ranging from basic injury rehab to high-level athletics. For example, Whittemore previously worked with the U.S. snowboard halfpipe team and while Robson has also worked with athletes at the national level, she also worked with youth and seniors with various rehab needs.
Another physiotherapist who works out of the studio, Tara Lazarski, worked with Olympic-level cyclists and other professional mountain bike teams.
“Having a background in elite sport, having access to evidence and working with the highest level of practitioners just kind of allows us to apply the same principles to the 撸奶社区community,” said Whittemore.
But Whittemore explained that the clients they serve don’t necessarily need to be elite athletes to get elite-level care.
“You don’t have to be at that level to receive that same amount of care,” she said.
She explained recent patients have ranged from youth to seniors with issues ranging from orthopedic injuries to car accident injury rehab to post-surgical rehab.
The include sports performance, rehabilitation and overall fitness, which can be one-on-one, partner training or small group sessions. The studio is filled with gym equipment and an upstairs area where group classes can occur. They can also work with clients online.
“Since I finished with my ski coaching career, it's always been a dream of mine to have a space where I can collaborate with other practitioners,” Robson said. “I always knew that having that ability would just make the whole progression for people so much better.”
And the evidence of client progression, as well as satisfaction, came much sooner than later.
“We’ve just finished a six-week program with a group with the two of us running the class,” said Robson. “They’ve been so stoked that they asked for three more weeks.”
Now that the doors are officially open, the short-term goal is to get their name out there and reach 撸奶社区clientele.
“To be able to have a place where there's a logical plan put in place and you can see it from start to finish and you know that as roadblocks come up, you're going to be supported through that,” said Whittemore. “For the right clientele that wants that, it's pretty exciting for people to know that it's available to them.”
In the long-term, it comes down to meeting clients where they’re at and ensuring their health and wellness long into the future.
“We can work together and come up with the best outcome for the client or patient, so they feel like they understand what they need to do outside of Fall Line, too,” said Robson.
“A good way of saying it is empowering people towards whatever their goals are,” Whittemore said. “And sometimes people don't even know what their goals are, so working towards figuring out those with them, too, is part of the journey.”
