Brandon Barrett

Brandon is an award-winning journalist for Pique ߣÄÌÉçÇømagazine. Originally hired by the now-defunct Whistler Question, he has lived in the resort since 2012, and now serves as Pique’s crime and food reporter, as well as features editor. He was the 2018 recipient of the John Collison Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism, and won gold at the 2021 B.C. and Yukon Community ߣÄÌÉçÇøpaper Awards for best feature article over 10,000 circulation. He holds a criminology degree from Carleton University and a journalism diploma from Algonquin College.

Prior to his time in Whistler, he worked as a reporter in Medellin for English-language news site, Colombia Reports.

In his free time, Brandon is a performer, theatre producer, improv instructor and playwright. The co-founder of sketch show Comedy Quickies, he has written or co-written three feature-length plays: 2016’s Between Two Tall Mountains and 2018’s All Relative, part of the Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, as well as 2019’s family comedy, A Whistler Vacation, which premiered at the Maury Young Arts Centre.
