It is sad to see the environmental groups sniping at each other over the Carbon Tax. Is there anyone out there who really believes that it is anything but a Liberal money grab? Do they actually believe that more money in Liberal government coffers will save the polar bears?
That "revenue neutral" money will probably go to subsidize fish farms, oil exploration and so-called run of the river power projects (IPPs).
The saddest part is that this obvious boondoggle has worked so beautifully. The Liberals must be splitting their sides with glee. First of all we have the NDP and the Green Party dividing the environmental vote. Now we actually have major environmental groups seemingly supporting the Liberals.
Since the system is set up to negate our local vote, I know Joan McIntyre will take this riding again.
And I once harboured a faint and fatalistic hope based on the fact that she is a female Liberal, woman to woman so to speak, but that has been entirely expunged by the patronizing, dismissive letters I have received in response to my concerns about fish farming and other environmental issues.
The fact is that the Liberals don't care a fig what happens to the province or the Earth beyond their own tenure.
As for environmental policy, if you are on the Titanic you and your family and friends may as well be travelling first class.
We may be stuck with McIntyre again but please don't give her the satisfaction of calling it a mandate. Vote on your beliefs.
And while you are at it vote yes on the Single Transferable Vote so that someday your local vote will actually count for something. And do go out and vote.
