Before heading up or down the highway, 撸奶社区locals commonly check online with DriveBC or social media to see if there is a crash that could impact their trip.
If there is a crash, the next question is how bad it is. If it is bad, then how long the closure will be is the next concern.
According to BC , upwards of about 19,000 people are driving on the highway per day (based on a count at Highway 99, at south end of Cheekye River Bridge).
In 2023, RCMP note 12 people died on our stretch of the highway.
Already, this year has seen a slew of crashes, including a multi-vehicle crash near Whistler that landed 10 people in hospital last Wednesday.
Given the frequency—and severity—of recent crashes, The 撸奶社区 polled 379 readers and asked the question: Do you ever avoid travel on the Sea to Sky Highway for fear of a crash?
About half of respondents said they do sometimes avoid travel on our highway.
The poll ran from Feb.12, 2025, to March 1, 2025.
Of the 379 votes, we can determine that 185 are from within the community.
(Because it is optional for survey takers to declare where they live, the number of locals is likely higher.)
