Editor,
Re: "Highway 80 per cent complete," The Chief, Feb. 6. Do Kevin Falcon and Kiewit think we're all stupid? Or is this just another example of contempt and Incompetence? Was Mr. Falcon absent from the recall of Parliament to bail out the Olympic Village fiasco? What did he think they were meeting for when he saysP3s "allow the province to transfer risk and any cost overruns to the private partner"? Doesn't he realize that in the end the P3 just punts the risk ball right back into his own end?And as he drove from one end of Sea to Sky to the other, was he asleep as he passed through Squamish?Kiewit did a great job with the experimental piece north of Horseshoe Bay, a complicated engineering feat executed with skill and courtesy for us, the 14,000 users, every day.
Sadly, 撸奶社区has been saddled with the B team. We've had four years of knock down drag out road works, haphazard, slow, regurgitated and downright dangerous. Since November there have been four lanes 95 per cent completed through town, from Greg Gardner's showrooms to the Adventure Centre, with the Mamquam Bridge finished. None of it opened.
We still twist and turn, and seniors don't venture out after dark because the routeis too uncertain.Come on Kiewit, put a little concentrated effort into it and open up our highway through Squamish. Donald GrahamBrackendale
