I write this letter in regard to inefficient traffic flows at Loggers Lane and Highway 99. It is already causing traffic to back up as only three or four vehicles get through before the light turns red.
It’s even worse when full-length buses are involved. Frustrated drivers are an accident waiting to happen.
The intersection is already designed to allow three lanes, and MOTI even has the three pressure plates that trip the light in place.
Please let us have the middle lane that would allow two left turns onto Highway 99 South and two lanes straight onto Cleveland. We know how to drive!
They only have to change the painted lines and add signage indicating the middle lane goes either left or straight.
With the endless growth of housing up Loggers Lane, the busyness of this intersection is only getting worse.
Do we have to wait until there is a tragic accident for MOTI to make the changes? Or, do we need more concerned residents writing more letters?
And please, the same should be done at Mamquam and Highway 99.
We understand that some physical changes would be required, but two left-turning lanes here would drastically improve efficiency for Highway 99 and the long line of Highlands residents waiting to go south.
