Gone to the dogs

撸奶社区has gone to the dogs, literally. I used to love walking along the Brackendale dike, but lately I've been too disgusted to set foot up there. Why? Because you cannot go more than two feet without seeing a pile of dog poo.

Now there's always been the occasional hazard while going for a walk, but it seems like lately more and more people are using my neighborhood as their dog's toilet. Did they think the snow would hide it? That it would magically disappear? I just don't understand the reasoning behind it.

I also don't understand why no one seems to know what a leash is. I'm sick and tired of trying to enjoy a nice walk and being harassed by unleashed dogs. We do not live in the backcountry; we live in a pretty well-developed town and as much as people would like to believe that Government Road is the same as a deserted Arctic tundra, it just isn't. Other people would like to enjoy the outdoors too, without having someone's rambunctious dog slobbering all over them. (And I know that Fluffy is the nicest doggy ever, but that doesn't mean that I want him jumping up at my face.)

So I'm asking for a little consideration here and a little responsibility. Leash your dog. Clean up their mess. And show a little respect for the other residents of this town.Amanda Molloy
