Easter celebrated throughout Squamish

The message and hope of Easter will be celebrated in churches on Sunday (April 12) with special music, hymns and choruses and you are welcome to attend the church of your choice.

The Easter Bunny and his good buddies from the 撸奶社区Fire Fighters Association invite all kids to participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday (April 12) at 11 a.m. It will be held at the public field by the baseball diamonds at Brennan Park. There will be coffee for adults and hot chocolate for kids and donations for the Relay for Life would be appreciated.

There is a Scavenger Hunt at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park on Easter Sunday (April 12) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Brennan Park Recreation Centre is offering an Easter Skate on Sunday (April 12) from 12:05 to 1:05 p.m. as well as another special skate on Monday (April 13) from 1 to 3 p.m.

On Easter Sunday (April 12) a Bunny Bubbles Swim is planned at the aquatic pool at the BPRC from 2 to 4 p.m. and it includes games, goodies and prizes.

The 撸奶社区Historical Society is pleased to be presenting Diamond Head Chalet: A Family Journey at the Brackendale Art Gallery on Friday, April 17 at 8 p.m. Hollyburn Heritage Society archivist Donald Grant will present a 56 minute video which includes rare movies film shot in Garibaldi Provincial Park during the 1940s, along with photos ad slides taken in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. A video of the Brandvold/Mathews/Gambioli family reunion at the Diamond Head Chalet site in September 2007 will also be shown. Admission is by donation.

The 撸奶社区Public Library's Teen Book Club will be meeting on Thursday (April 16) at 6:30 p.m. The discussion will focus on the book I Am The Messenger by Markus Zutak. Members of the Over the Hill Hikers are asked to meet at Ross and Government Road on Tuesday, April 14 at 10 a.m. to carpool to the Whistler Bungee to Brandywine Falls. For more information, please call Heather at 604-892-9003.

Hilltop House will celebrate this month's birthdays on Wednesday (April 15) at 2 p.m. when Bern Salmon, Olga Metzler, Austin Griffiths and Isabella McLaughlin will be honoured.

A Burger & Beer Balding for Dollars fundraiser will be held at the Cliffside Pub on Friday April 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door or contact Kelly Fallis at 604-815-0995.

On Wednesday (April 15) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the 撸奶社区Food Bank will distribute grocery hampers at the Alano Club on Third Avenue.

The 撸奶社区Trails Society will hold its annual general meeting on Thursday (April 16) at 7 p.m. in the Tantalus Seniors' Centre at 1470 Pemberton Avenue. The Society is looking for new members and this meeting will be a chance for you to find out what they have done in the community and how you can help out in future projects. The hit movie Mamma Mia! Is being shown at St. John's Anglican Church at 1930 Diamond Road, Garibaldi Estates on Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m. This is a fundraiser for St. John's Youth Group's Relay for Life Team, Vox Ephebus. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 years and under. The price includes the movie, snacks and more.

The Hearts in Motion Walking Club will meet at the parking lot next to the 撸奶社区Golf Course on Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m. for a trail walk. More info from Darleen at 604-892-2092 or myself at 604-815-0152.

At the next Noon Hour Discussion at the 撸奶社区Public Library on Tuesday (April 14) from noon to 1 p.m., the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls will be reviewed.

The Friends of the Library will meet at the 撸奶社区Library on Thursday (April 16) at noon for approximately one hour. This group is sponsoring the Book Sale at the library on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 from 10 to 12:30 p.m.

New stock has arrived at the Gift Shop at the 撸奶社区General Hospital including evening bags suitable for grads, weddings or special occasions plus other items and of course a good selection of baby and toddler items. The WA to SGH will be selling tickets for the Mother's Day raffle at Wal0Mart on April 17 and 18.

The B.C. Museum of Mining at Britannia Beach is holding its annual general meeting on Thursday (April 16) at 3 p.m. Prior to the AGM take a our of the behind-the-scenes tour of recent projects and Britannia Project work now underway. There will be light refreshments and social for members.
