Re: "Be a responsible pet owner, please!" letter to The Chief, Feb. 20.
That dog was my dog and his name is Longhorn, named after the bar in Whistler where I used to live and work. To everyone who knows me and my dog from here and Whistler, my dogs were very well loved and taken care of properly. As for my dogs running loose, I do not let my dogs run loose for the reason that my dogs could get hit and killed, especially with the traffic that flows through Valleycliffe at high rates of speeds. Both my dogs have a nice yard to play in, and unfortunately that day they managed to push a couple of boards loose and escape from the yard. The stench that was reported was not due to lack of attention, because he was reported seen in the area of the old mill and swamp. The matted hair is a result of shedding, which is sometimes hard to control with dogs of this nature. But to everyone who stopped, and to let the fellow who did stop to attend to this matter, I do very much thank you for taking the time to care and take my dog to the vet. As a result of his internal injuries, Longhorn did pass away and I really will miss him very much.
