2010 to me

撸奶社区no longer exists. This is the thought that runs through my mind when I hear about the countdown to the Vancouver-Whistler 2010. As I read the Vancouver metro newspaper, I'm disappointed that nothing is said about Squamish.

撸奶社区no longer exists. This is the thought that runs through my mind when I hear about the countdown to the Vancouver-Whistler 2010. As I read the Vancouver metro newspaper, I'm disappointed that nothing is said about Squamish. Countless columns of how Vancouver and Whistler will be celebrating the one-year countdown, and nothing about Squamish. Not even the fact that the torch is "passing through."

What exactly are the Olympics bringing to Squamish, other then one giant traffic jam? Do you honestly think that anyone is going to stop and awe over our beautiful town? Who will have the time?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that an estimated 250,000 people will be rushing to get here - or better yet, there - but what is it going to bring a community that was once named "The Heart of the 2010"?

Is 撸奶社区even ready for the Olympics? It saddens me to think that my answer, at this time, is "No." Yes, there are countless opportunities that are arising, but who is going to take action?

I'm sick of sitting around waiting for something big to happen to Squamish. The 2010 Olympics is the biggest thing 撸奶社区will never have! I will be making noise at 6 p.m. on Feb 12. I will be hoping for a miracle. The only thing I have heard on the television about 撸奶社区is the horse named Caboose. I was so excited to see something about Squamish, and yet nothing about 撸奶社区was said.

For everyone who will be opening their doors for 2010, I applaud you. Be proud to be the only group of people who are bringing the Olympics to Squamish. Be proud that we are still "The Heart of the 2010," Squamish.
