The Garibaldi Highlands and Brackendale have the most permits issued for fireworks on New Year's Eve.聽

The permit application for New Year's Eve is now closed.

The Garibaldi Highlands and Brackendale have the most permits issued for fireworks on New Year's Eve. 

The Highlands shows eight permits issued by the District, while in Brackendale there were five.

Fireworks are allowed between 8 p.m. tonight and 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.

While there isn't an organized community New Year's Eve party in Squamish, you can make a celebration of your own, including fireworks, if you follow a few simple procedures. 

Fireworks are usually not allowed in town, but the fire chief makes an exception for Halloween, Diwali and New Year's Eve.

They are allowed between 8 p.m. Dec. 31 and 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.

But you have to have a permit from the District of Squamish. 

Applications for the free permit are open now until 4 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Note that a copy of this permit must be available for viewing by a member of 撸奶社区Fire Rescue, RCMP or Bylaw officers upon request.

“Consumer fireworks will only be permitted for use on private, residential property.  Any person applying for a permit to discharge consumer fireworks must be at least 19 years of age and obtain written consent of the owner of the property upon which the fireworks display will be located, if the person applying for the permit is not the owner,” the District site says.
