Have you noticed a change in the — er — strength of the free dog poop bags available around Squamish?
A reader told us they had, so we decided to find out from the municipality, which supplies the bags.
A spokesperson for the District of ߣÄÌÉçÇøtold us that, in fact, there has been a recent change in the complimentary pet waste bags provided by the District.
The switch is due to a change in product by the manufacturer.
The currently available bags are compostable, versus the older green bags labelled biodegradable, noted the District's director of communications, Christina Moore, who added that it's important to note that dog waste is not allowed in the District's curbside organics collection program.
"There is no 'weight capacity' specification identified for the bags, and these are the only size bags that would be compatible with the existing bag dispensers," Moore said.
"There are many different versions of pet waste bags on the market, available at local retailers or online, if residents and their pets have specific needs beyond the District-supplied bags."
Now you know the scoop.
