Whistler Blackcomb Foundation has opened its pockets to some local organizations this year, shelling out more than $260,000 to 40 different charitable grants - including several for Squamish.
Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School is going to receive $25,000 to go towards a new playground. The existing playground has been deemed unsafe to use and is over 30 years old.
Another $25,000 was donated to the skateboard park fundraising campaigns. The Foundation donated the money to both 撸奶社区and Pemberton in order to quench the local youths' thirst for skateboarding.
Squamish's Easter Seal Camp will benefit from $3,000 going to the Whistler Blackcomb's employee team in the BC Lions 24-Hour Relay for Kids. The money was donated to provide a new playground at the Squamish-based summer camp for children with disabilities.
A donation of $2,000 was given to the Garibaldi Paddle Sports Association in 撸奶社区for the purchase of an outrigger canoe. The canoe is going to be used for a youth and leadership initiative that promotes exchanges between Canadian and international youth.
The 撸奶社区Food Bank has received $1,000 to replenish their funds.
