Bear spray attacks

Police are reporting two separate cases where a person was bear sprayed outside a building on Third Avenue. at Main Street. 

In one case, on Sept. 9, at about 1 a.m., a person was bear sprayed outside the building. Police arrested a woman and released her from custody with a future court date. 

Another separate case occurred on Sept. 8 at about 5:20 a.m. A man was sleeping outside a building when another man approached him, hit him with a pole and bear sprayed him. Police are investigating.

Vehicle collision

Police say a truck driver made a right turn from the wrong lane and swiped the motorcyclist while both were travelling southbound on Highway 99.

The incident occurred on Sept. 11. Officers issued a ticket to the pickup truck driver for making a right turn from the wrong lane and for having an expired driver’s license. The motorcyclist received minor injuries, however, their bike was not drivable and needed towing.

Garbage fire

Police say a man was lighting garbage on fire outside a building on the 1300-block of Pemberton Avenue, as well as in front of the drug store at the Chieftain Centre Mall on Sept. 10.

Fire Rescue and police responded to ensure the fire was out safely, and the police investigation continues. The man lighting the fires is described as about six feet tall, pushing a shopping cart.

You’ve been served

An intoxicated man walked into a local restaurant and pretended to be a server. Police attended to arrest the man, and lodged him in a cell until he was sober.
