A 撸奶社区man spent Friday night, Oct. 14 in the drunk tank after hitting a Whistler man in the face and unsuccessfully attempting to flee from police.
In a release, Whistler RCMP said authorities were first called to the 4100 block of Gateway Drive in Whistler Village at around 10: 20 p.m. to respond to a reported assault. A 撸奶社区man had allegedly struck a local resident, causing the victim's nose to bleed. The Whistler man reportedly "had ongoing altercations" with the accused leading up to the assault, according to police.
"The man ran from police but was caught a short time after," police explained. Whistler RCMP officers subsequently arrested the 撸奶社区resident for assault and held him in jail until he sobered up.
The man was released with a future court date and issued a pair of violation tickets for urinating and being intoxicated in public.
The assault was one of 108 total files Whistler's RCMP detachment logged in the week spanning Oct. 11 to 17.
Motorcycle driver injured in Highway 99 crash near Daisy Lake
A motorcyclist was badly injured in a crash near Daisy Lake dam on Friday morning, leading to lengthy delays for motorists heading up the Sea to Sky highway near Whistler.
According to police, the motorcycle driver was speeding northbound on Highway 99 when they failed to complete a turn, colliding with the highway's centre median and sand barrels.
The driver reportedly sustained "serious injuries" in the accident. The collision required a multiple-agency response, including from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, Whistler Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance and Air Ambulance.
The highway was closed for approximately two hours while responders attended to the driver and conducted an investigation.
Police investigating after pricey jewellery stolen from Whistler hotel room
Whistler RCMP were called to a local hotel Thursday night, Oct. 13, after two items with a combined five-figure price tag went missing.
Police said they received a report just before midnight about the theft of a watch and a ring from a hotel room located in the 4500 block of Blackcomb Way. The stolen pieces are valued at about $13,000, according to RCMP.
"Various people had access to the room over a lengthy period of time," Whistler RCMP explained in the release. Both hotel staff and police continue to investigate.
