撸奶社区fetch dreams come true: Fenced off-leash dog park in progress

A paw-some play area for four-legged residents in the works for Brennan Park.

You may have noticed a new addition if you recently visited the all-weather field at Brennan Park.

There is a new off-leash, fenced dog park area under development there.

So far, there is a double-gated fenced area.

The District says this will become a dog-run and open grass field.

"The one-acre fenced area will be soiled and seeded in the early fall once water restrictions ease," said District spokesperson Rachel Boguski

She added that there is no confirmed opening date or official name yet, though the public will be informed once it’s ready for use.

In 2021, the municipality conducted a survey to collect public feedback on potential dog parks.

Council then endorsed a plan for pilot off-leash dog locations at Merrill Park (which is officially open now) in the Garibaldi Highlands, John Hunter Park in Valleycliffe, Powerline Service Road in Brackendale, and Brennan Park.
