The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) has approved allocating $291,000 to four sewer projects at opposing ends of the regional district.

The board of directorsthe money from the Community Works Fund to projects in Bralorne, Britannia Beach and Furry Creek.

In Bralorne, $30,000 will pay for new water meters, and another $26,000 for sewer service upgrades.

At the other end of the regional district, the project getting the most funding is for a replacement of a headworks auger at Furry Creek's sewer service, which according to an SLRD staff report is at the end of its life, and requires constant repairs to function. Its replacement has a budget of $160,000.

A $75,000 allocation to Britannia Beach will pay for the same thing.

Directors voted unanimously at the May 22 board meeting to approve the allocations, which leaves the Community Works Fund with $933,836.66 in the budget for future projects. Both Area A and Area D, which receive the $291,000 allocated May 22, are in an allocation deficit after the water and sewer upgrades, while Areas B and C still have more than $450,000 each for future projects.

According to the staff report, the projects are expected to be completed in 2024, but may need to be deferred to future years.
