On Sept. 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, members of the Sea to Sky RCMP and the Integrated First Nations Unit Members paddled around Alice Lake, with a group from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (ߣÄÌÉçÇøNation) and Foundry on the Little Thunderbird canoe.
The group shared in cultural knowledge and traditions of the Nation, while listening to Nation Elders speak of the importance of this day of observance, according to a news release.
“It was a privilege to be asked to participate, and learn the ߣÄÌÉçÇøNation canoe culture. Such a beautiful day spent together sharing, and honouring.” said Staff Sgt. Gareth Bradley of the Sea to Sky RCMP (Squamish).
