撸奶社区Fire Rescue crews have knocked down the fire behind Walmart.
This means the blaze has been mostly extinguished at this point.
The local fire department was dispatched to a garbage fire behind the Discovery Way store today at approximately 12:14 p.m. (Aug. 22).
“Fire crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control, and has been successfully knocked down,” reads a news release from the District of Squamish.
No injuries were reported from this incident.
However, due to the fire, Walmart has been evacuated and temporarily closed to the public.
Discovery Way at Walmart has been closed to traffic during this time, and RCMP is on the scene to manage traffic, according to the District.
Neighbouring businesses remain open.
Fire crews continue to work on-site as of 3 p.m.
