Before the rain, there was the long weekend and opening day for summer operations at Whistler Blackcomb.
Mountain bike riders outnumbered the last of the skiers and snowboarders in the village on May 17, when the Fitzsimmons Express started taking bikers up to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park for the first time in 2024.
In an event dubbed "Whismas" by bikers and the resort itself, riders turned out to be the first up the hill for a season that is .
Guests at the mountain can head up Blackcomb for summer hiking from May 21, and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola has a scheduled opening of June 15, as does the Peak Express.
The last day for skiing and snowboarding for the 2023-24 season was May 20.
