Drive BC that the Sea to Sky Highway has re-opened fully from Squamish to Lillooet.
Police say drivers should still expect some flooding and speed limits of 60 km/h.
Earlier in the day, Highway 99 from 撸奶社区to Whistler was closed to non-essential travel.
“The highway from Alice Lake to Function Junction is closed as driving conditions are treacherous. We strongly recommend people to stay home and not drive any other part of the highway unless absolutely essential,” said Cpl. Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP, in a news release around 12 p.m. on Dec. 24.
“Even responders have had challenges driving the highway and accessing collision scenes due to highway conditions, weather, and visibility.”
According to the police, other areas of Highway 99 were almost impassable due to a combination of bad weather, treacherous road conditions, and a number of collisions and spinouts.
Earlier in the day, Environment Canada warned that Highway 99 and 撸奶社区could see ice and rain throughout the day. The alert said to consider postponing travel plans today, if possible.
