Updated: Electric motorbike vandalism rips through 撸奶社区BMX track

Vandalism halts race night for kids due to damage making the track unsafe, says club president; RCMP asking for information.

Little feet won't be on small pedals tonight for race night at the 撸奶社区BMX Racing Club due to vandals who struck over the weekend.

The club's president told The 撸奶社区 that at least two people caused damage to the track on Friday night by riding electric motorbikes on it.

"What was a few minutes fun for them will take countless volunteer hours and material we will have to purchase to repair the track," club president Vairdy Frail told The 撸奶社区 on Sunday.

The ruts caused by the incident make it "super unsafe" for BMX riders, she added.

"The track is now unsafe to ride for our local BMX riders, who are mostly kids, and this is so sad and disheartening."

Frail said it is important for riders to understand that motorized e-bikes of any kind can not use the newly revamped track.

Just in June, the club's track renovation was complete, after volunteers devoted hundreds of hours this spring rebuilding it for the club's 250 to 300 members, and for members of the public, who were welcome to come try it out on their non-motorized bikes.

In relation to this incident, the Sea to Sky RCMP’s 撸奶社区detachment is asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible.
