It is almost that festive time of year again. Snow is dusting local mountains and December is fast approaching.
Christmas Day is 71 days away.
But with the very challenging economic times these past few years, more families are likely feeling the pinch in their wallets.
Would your family benefit from a 撸奶社区Community Christmas Care hamper?
For more than four decades, the SCCC charity fundraiser has brought cheer in the form of Christmas hampers to those who may not otherwise enjoy the holiday season.
Applications to receive a hamper are now available around town, including at Sea to Sky Community Services, Under One Roof, Pearl Space (formerly Howe Sound Women’s Centre), at 撸奶社区Churches, .
Applications can be dropped off at the same places. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 17th.
Last year, volunteers delivered more than 360 hampers, benefiting well over 1,000 individuals, according to Rev. Cameron Gutjahr, of Squamish’s St. John the Divine Anglican Church, who is co-chair of the 撸奶社区Community Christmas Care Society.
One issue almost since the fundraiser’s inception—finding a suitable depot, has been resolved for this year, Gutjahr, said.
The location is kept confidential for security reasons.
“We are expecting this year for the need to be great again, and for it to be more difficult to fulfill orders because of the economic climate,” he added.
How to help
Delivery day will be Tuesday, Dec. 19th, and, as always, volunteers turn this event from challenge to reality to magic.
Email [email protected] to volunteer.
And the hampers can’t be put together without community donations. Community Christmas Care collects money for groceries and toys and gifts for hampers. Soon, there will be donation drop-off locations (including The 撸奶社区 on Second Ave.) listed on the SCCC website.
Financial donations are already
And businesses can get involved, too.
