Updated: Squamish's Fawn Lake wildfire 'being held'

The East of Fawn Lake fire is said to be near the Cheekye River. It was discovered at about 5:30 p.m. on May 29.

As of Tuesday morning, the 撸奶社区wildfire east of Fawn Lake is ‘being held’. 

Its current size is 20 metres by 20 metres (.04 hectares). 

Being held means the wildfire will not likely spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.

The fire was discovered at about dinner time on May 29 near the Cheekye River. 

According to Nick Donnelly, fire information officer with the Coastal Fire Centre, there was no fire growth overnight.

"An initial attack crew actioned the fire yesterday evening, and a four-person crew is currently deployed to it," Donnelly said. 

It is suspected to be a human-caused fire, but the exact cause is unknown at this time.

Meanwhile, BC Wildfire Service firefighters continue to patrol the 38-hectare wildfire in the 撸奶社区Valley for hotspots. It started on May 13 and is also believed to have been human-caused.
