Downtown 撸奶社区will take on a new and alive look when the first annual Wild at Art 撸奶社区Winter Arts Festival takes place Saturday (Feb. 28) from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
It is a fine way to showcase the talents of this community in music, art, crafts, filmmaking and individual street performers. Take your time as you check out the many venues, enjoy a great variety of music and chat with those participating.
Hats off to those who have done the legwork in making this day a reality.
The 撸奶社区Skating Club is holding a bottle drive Saturday (Feb. 28) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Money raised will go to the club's upcoming competition in Parksville.

On Friday (Mar. 5) the World Day of Prayer service will be hosted by 撸奶社区United Church at 7:30 p.m. The 2004 service theme is "Faith, Women Shape the Future" written by the women of Panama.
As the West Coast Railway Heritage park is hosting the first "Day Out With Thomas" event in Western Canada on June 11-13 and June 18-20 weekends, many volunteers will be needed to make it a successful event. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the Heritage Tea at the park on Feb. 21. The refreshments were delicious, the ladies who served us were dressed in costumes of the era and were the friendliest and the setting in the Brightbill House was most memorable. As we enjoyed our tea, we had fun reminiscing about the "good old days".

The 撸奶社区Nation (Valley) Women is presenting a benefit performance of Eve Ensler's play The Vagina Monologues on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Totem Hall. This benefit fundraiser is to help put an end to violence against women and girls and is part of the V-Day 2004 Worldwide campaign. Tickets in advance are $12 and available at Billie's Bouquet, Eagle Run Coffee Company and Totem Hall. If purchased at the door tickets are $15 each.
The 撸奶社区Soup Kitchen is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the United Church's Trinity hall on Fourth Avenue. Single seniors are invited to take part in a hot lunch and fellowship with others.
