Forget chocolates and flowers: one Sea to Sky resident found the way to her parents' heart is by hitting the jackpot.
Dr. Sheldon Goldberg and his wife Debbie were the lucky recipients of a winning BC Set for Life ticket Saturday (Feb. 14).
The ticket was purchased for them as a Valentine's Day gift by their daughter, Lisa.
The thoughtful daughter was planning to buy chocolates for her parents but ended up buying a far more lucrative gift instead.
"Lisa wanted to buy us some chocolates for Valentine's Day but the line-up at the candy store was too long so she bought us a few scratch-and-win tickets instead," said Goldberg.
"It was the best Valentine's Day present ever."
The paid couldn't believe their luck even on the day the pair visited the lottery corporation headquarters in Richmond on Wednesday (Feb. 18).
From the $4 winning card the Goldbergs had the choice of taking a one-time lump sum of $675,000 or receiving $1,000 every week for 25 years. The Goldbergs opted for the lump sum.Dr. Goldberg owns the Garibaldi Dental Clinic on Cleveland Avenue.
