Safety alert: Canada-wide recall of hot tubs due to 'burn hazard'

Check your tubs and let your friends know, too!

Health Canada warns that several hot tubs have been recalled due to a burn hazard.

A safety notification issued Thursday (Dec. 15) states that several Sundance® Spas and Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs may show a temperature that is much lower than the actual temperature of the water.

The temperature sensor may show an inaccurate temperature, causing the water to be hotter than the set temperature. This may lead to an injury, such as heat stroke, as well as thermal burn hazards.

As of Dec. 9, the company has received 185 reports of inaccurate temperature readings, with 26 of them in Canada. However, no injuries have been reported.

The recalled products include Jacuzzi® J-200™, J-300™, J-400™ and J-500™ Collection hot tubs and Sundance® Spas 680™, 780™, 880™ and 980™ Series spas. They were manufactured between July 29, 2021, and Feb. 9, 2022.

The model number and serial number are engraved into a silver plate in the equipment bay of the hot tub. The Subject Products were sold through dealers.

What you should do if you have one of the recalled hot tubs

Before you get in the hot tub, use an accurate external thermometer to ensure you have the correct water temperature. If you have an affected temperature sensor, you should also contact an authorized dealer to arrange for a free repair to replace the sensor.

For more information, contact Sundance Spas/Jacuzzi Hot Tubs toll-free at 1-800-549-1502 from 7 a.m to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected] for Jacuzzi® brands and [email protected] for Sundance® Spas brands or online at  or .
