Watchdog to investigate death of man shot by police outside Regina home

REGINA — Saskatchewan's police watchdog is investigating the case of a man shot and killed by police outside a home in Regina over the weekend.

REGINA — Saskatchewan's police watchdog is investigating the case of a man shot and killed by police outside a home in Regina over the weekend.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team says the shooting happened Sunday afternoon when police attended a residence based on reports a 65-year-old was damaging nearby property.

In the confrontation that followed, a police car was shot at before two officers fired on the man.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The Serious Incident Response Team says investigators recovered a loaded, non-police handgun and several spent cartridges.

The investigation will also examine the circumstances of the man's death.
