Tanner named WCRA president

Evans takes on 'emeritus' role; Bell named general manager

There's been a changing of the guard at the West Coast Railway Association (WCRA), which runs Squamish's West Coast Railway Heritage Park.

Don Evans, who had been the WCRA's president, has been named President Emeritus, a title that "recognizes Don's many years of leadership with the WCRA," officials wrote in a statement issued on March 1.

Ken Tanner, who has been the association's general manager, has been named president and chief executive officer, responsible for overseeing the WCRA's operations. He will be based at the park, officials said.

Gordon Bell, who until recently was one of the owners of The Meadows Golf Course in Pemberton, comes on board as the park's general manager, effective on Monday (March 11), officials said.

"We are looking forward to Ken's increased leadership responsibilities and delighted that leadership transition for the future of the organization can get underway with continuity," said Bob Philip, WCRA board chair. "We welcome Gordon to the WCRA and thank Don for his many years of leadership service, and for his continued involvement."
