These aren鈥檛 your daddy鈥檚 Hot Wheels.

The inaugural 撸奶社区Shootout is set to take over the Automind Raceway on Saturday (Sept. 27) and the Area 99 Radio Control Racing Club is inviting anyone and everyone to come check out the races.

Racers from all over the Sea to Sky Corridor are invited to participate and there is no entry fee. Races kick off at 1 p.m. at 38942 Bowen Avenue in Squamish.

The Area 99 group also hosts races in Whistler every Thursday night and plans to run races in 撸奶社区on every second and fourth Saturday of the month until the final race on Nov. 8.

Hobby grade and electric-only cars are allowed with both 1/10 and 1/16 scale sizes approved. There are no battery or motor restrictions on the cars.

There are three different classes of competitors: Racer 鈥 scored races for the competitive racers, Hobby 鈥 closed sessions on a smaller track for kids and newcomers with no winners or losers and Basher 鈥 open or practice sessions for fun.

Race formats are five-minute scored heats for the racers classes and 15-minute non-scored sessions for the hobby and basher divisions.

Club president Nick Coward said it should be a fun debut for his group.

鈥淭he track has been a fixture down there for a few years, but until now no one has really put on an organized race series for the hobby and we are all looking forward to finding out who is the best in the west so to speak,鈥 he stated in an email.

The club is also looking for volunteers to help out with race duties such as track prep, marshalling, mechanics and any other ideas to make the day enjoyable.

For more on the club or to volunteer, contact Coward at [email protected]. For more details on the 撸奶社区Shootout, visit their Facebook page.
