The snow, sleet and rain weren’t stopping any of these birders.
The Christmas Bird Count took place on Saturday, Dec. 17 throughout Squamish.
Marcia Danielson said about 25 volunteers joined the count and they were separated into 10 groups who were identifying and counting various species of birds.
When The 撸奶社区 joined a small group of volunteers, they had already identified about 30 species around the downtown estuary trails.
Other volunteers were in Britannia Beach and Brackendale, among other places. Several were even on a boat in Howe Sound.
Some of the species seen while out with the volunteers included eagles, gulls, woodpeckers, sparrows, herons and even a couple of hummingbirds.
The final count had yet to be tallied by the press deadline.
Danielson said they are always looking for more volunteers to join the bird counts throughout the year.
