While snowmobilers hit their snow hiatus, money they raised last winter is providing children with summer camp memories.
Snowarama, a 35-year-old BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities fundraiser, raised more than $32,000 this year - $1,822.20 of which was from Powder Mountain, Pemberton Valley and Black Tusk snowmobile clubs.
"There was some great support this year from many of our clubs, and we're honored each year to support Easter Seals Services in our province," Erin Hart, BC Snowmobile Federation president stated in a press release.
The money is divided between two services - Easter Seals camps and houses. The houses, located in Victoria and Vancouver, offer families a place to stay with their children while the youth receive medical treatments. Some families stay for a few nights, while others stay for months as their child goes through surgery or outpatient programs like radiation, chemotherapy or rehabilitation.
The weeklong camps see more than 900 children with disabilities each year. 撸奶社区is home to one of B.C.'s three facilities.
"Many of Snowarama events saw great weather and beautiful fresh powder for all our riders to enjoy, making these events even more fun to those that put so much work into fundraising," Hart said.
