Show aims to help brides enjoy 'Sweet Beginnings'

'Amore' event promises everything brides-to-be need for their special day

If the joyous sounds of wedding bells are in your future, but you don't know where to even begin planning the big day, make sure to stop by the Amore Bridal Show at Executive Suites Garibaldi Springs Hotel on Saturday (Nov. 26) for ideas, tips and a little planning help.

"It's the first year we are hosting the bridal show," said Marie-Pier Dionne, owner of Sweet Beginnings, the wedding consulting and event planning company behind the Amore Bridal Show. "The company has eight locations across Canada - and we do planning for weddings as well as corporate events - and my franchise's territory covers Whistler to the North Shore.

"I just wanted to put on a bridal show for brides in the Sea to Sky, so I could introduce them to local suppliers and vendors, and let them know what services are available locally for them."

The show features wedding services and vendors from Vancouver as well, but Dionne said she likes to work with local businesses.

"I really try to focus on the local suppliers and vendors," she said. "It's important for me to give back to the community."

Future brides can expect to find information and contacts at the show for almost every aspect of their ideal wedding, including limousine services, a wedding commissioner, DJ entertainment, photographers and videographers, jewelry, makeup and skin care, mortgage brokers and more.

"We will also have Isabelle's Bridal presenting a fashion show of wedding and bridesmaids' dresses," Dionne said. "And Trinity Romance is doing a lingerie fashion show. So, you can bring your fiancée, too, because the men should like that. After all, lingerie is for the honeymoon, and that is an important part of the wedding, too."

The Garibaldi Springs bridal suite will be open during the show for tours, and the Living Room Restaurant and Lounge provides scrumptious appies.

"This is more of a boutique bridal show," Dionne said. "It is more intimate. I wanted to create something that would be comfortable for brides to come to with friends, family and fiancées - so they could enjoy food, a glass of wine and find out what is available to them in the area for their wedding."

The Amore Bridal Show takes place Saturday (Nov. 26) from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Executive Suites Garibaldi Springs Hotel. The fashion shows run at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

The show is open to the public, and admission is free for brides, or by donation.

"All donations at the show are going to Helping Hands," Dionne said. "It's just another way I want to give back to the community."
