Plenty of Heritage Park action this fall

It's hard to believe that we are now well into fall, but here we are. Around the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, the leaves are falling, leading to daily raking of the mini rail line, and the days are getting shorter.

It's hard to believe that we are now well into fall, but here we are. Around the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, the leaves are falling, leading to daily raking of the mini rail line, and the days are getting shorter.

But fall also brings a host of favourite activities and a few new ones for everyone to enjoy.

New for fall 2010 is the chance to have a rare and very special dining experience. Climb aboard the luxury 1890 railway car British Columbia, now located in the comfort of the exciting new CN Roundhouse & Conference Centre, and enjoy a unique four course gourmet dinner experience.

This is a private evening for groups of four to six people in the real ambiance of 1890 as patrons are served appetizers in the lounge, salad and main course with wine at the dining room table, then dessert and coffee back in the lounge.

This has never before been offered and is a very unique event for a family or group of friends. The price for a private evening with a host, food and wine for a party of four is just $449, and for a party of six just $599.

Call the Heritage Park now and book an evening you'll remember for a lifetime.

Halloween is sneaking up, and that means it's time for the annual "Fright Fest" at the Heritage Park.

This year will be better than ever with activities geared towards kids of all ages. Of course the decorated mummy mini rail ride is a highlight for everyone.

Other attractions include trick or treat at the Brightbill Heritage House, climbing aboard the "Ghoul Express," scary delights at The Beanery Caf茅 and the arts and crafts room.

The event opens Oct. 27 to 30 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The price, including the ride, is just $5 for general public and $3 for members.

Lastly, we might as well be thinking ahead to Christmas as the Polar Express returns for a two-day engagement at the Heritage Park.

Dates this year are Dec. 4 and 5, and the event includes the wonderful train ride with entertainment and on-board refreshments Polar Express style, as well as a fabulous new "North Pole" in our new CN Roundhouse & Conference Centre.

Tickets are available for first class at $32 and coach class at $22 per adult and $19 per child.

More information on these events can be found at www.wcra.org or by calling the Heritage Park at 604-898-9336. Note that HST is added to prices for all events.

We hope to see you this fall.
