It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad Brian Ronald Gustason after a year's long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Brian was born in Maple Ridge, B.C., on May 4th, 1945 and passed away peacefully in Vancouver B.C. on June 20th, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter Lauren, his son Christian, granddaughter Jayde and sister Karen.
Brian was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Dava.
Brian joined BC Hydro as an electrician in his early 20s when he met Dava one night at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver in 1970.
They were soon married the following year.
BC Hydro saw him and Dava move to Bella Coola and Vancouver Island before settling in 撸奶社区B.C, to start their family.
They lived in 撸奶社区their whole lives until Dava passed after a short battle with cancer, and Brian became unwell with Parkinson's and spent his final few years in Point Grey Private hospital care home in Kitsilano.
During his life, Brian loved to spend his spare time fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, playing hockey and generally being active and in the outdoors.
He shared these passions with his children, giving them many great memories. Brian was always very hard working and was always working on the house or the car or helping neighbours with their projects. There wasn't much Brian couldn't do!
After retirement, he spent most of his days at the local rivers fishing or home in the garden and making wine in the basement. He also loved spending time at the family cabin in Birch Bay.
Brian will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but the lasting memories and experiences he gave us will be held close to our hearts forever.
A riverside fire, barbeque, and fishing day will be held in his honour with close family and friends at a later date.
