The honours and recognition keep pouring in for the Britannia Mine Museum.
Another trophy was added to the museum's mantle on Saturday (May 4) when museum officials accepted the 2012 Mining and Sustainability Award.
The award, presented to the museum by the Mining Association of B.C. and the Province of British Columbia, recognizes those committed to advancing and promoting sustainable development in the B.C. mining sector.
"I'd like to acknowledge our dedicated staff and management," said Carol Watts, the museum's visitor services and operations manager. "Through their dedication and with the support of our owners, we've transformed from an industrial site to what we see here today."
Watts said the museum is well on its way to reaching 75,000 visitors for 2013 and also pointed out it's the museum's seventh award since 2010.
"Seeing this amazing facility and the contributions it makes to B.C. is amazing," said Steve Carr, B.C.'s Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Natural Gas. "We're all miners at heart; we all use these resources every day and this museum's contribution to sustainability in B.C. is so important."
The museum will receive another award on Friday (May 10) when officials receive the Award for Excellence in Sustainable Development from the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
