An event focusing on the future of mental health support networks in the Sea to Sky Corridor is planned next week at the 撸奶社区Public Library.
The event, titled "Filling in the Blanks between Mental Health and Mental Illness, a Community Dialogue," is scheduled next Tuesday (Feb. 19) at 6:30 p.m.
The discussion will include a panel of those involved in mental health in the corridor. Panelists include Christine Buttkus, outreach co-ordinator for North Shore Schizophrenia Society and FORCE (Families Organized for Recognition and Care Equality) Society for Kids' Mental Health, child and youth mental health worker Sarah Roth and parent representative Dave Anderson.
The presentation, which is open to all, will include discussion of questions such as: What does it mean to have a loved one living with a mental illness? What are the signs we should be looking for? What resources are available in our community? How can you build a support team for you and your family members? What can we do to promote mental health in our community?
For more information, please contact Buttkus at [email protected].
Meanwhile, the NSSS, which serves the Sea to Sky Corridor, is offering a new cycle of its popular Family to Family support and education services beginning next Tuesday (Feb. 19).
