As a senior, what types of programming would you like to see offered in ߣÄÌÉçÇøthat perhaps isn't already? The District is looking for seniors from varied backgrounds to join a new committee.

Are you a ߣÄÌÉçÇøsenior with something to say about activities you would like to see offered in town?

The municipality announced in a news release on July 21 that it’s looking for people to form a new seniors’ recreation and culture advisory committee.

The committee will collaborate and provide feedback and recommendations to District staff on programs for the town’s 55+ community.

Its focus will be on the delivery of programs in , , and the Westwinds facility.

Interested applicants are invited to apply at

“Who best to tell us how to improve our 55+ recreation and culture programming than the dedicated, enthusiastic and committed ߣÄÌÉçÇøresidents 55 and above, and we look forward to their input as we refine our current and future offerings with the interests of our growing seniors’ population in mind,” said Mayor Karen Elliott, in a news release. “I invite citizens interested in helping to create accessible, inclusive and diverse programming for our 55+ community to consider lending their perspective to what will no doubt be a valuable and productive group.”

Each appointed member will serve a two-year term and attend the bi-monthly meetings.

They will serve as independent community volunteers for the benefit of the entire 55+ community rather than the interest of a particular community organization.

The make up of the newly formed committee will be as follows: seven Squamish-based residents 55+ (members-at-large); one representative of the ߣÄÌÉçÇøSeniors Centre Society; one representative of the ߣÄÌÉçÇøNation; one representative of the ߣÄÌÉçÇøSikh community and one representative who deals with either the housing, care or education of the seniors community.
