A unique collection is coming to the ߣÄÌÉçÇøPublic Library and users are invited to check out its launch.

On Thursday, Sept. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., people can attend the unveiling of the library’s newest collection called the Library of Things.

“A Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional library items available for the community to borrow for free. These items might be rarely used, hard to store, or expensive, such as electronic equipment, cooking appliances and hobby items,” reads .

For example, a list of available items to borrow from Sept. 15 and beyond includes ukuleles, a canning kit, binoculars, a sewing machine, a CO2 monitor and more.

“We want this collection to be useful to many audiences, reduce community-wide waste and consumption, and contribute to social inclusion, accessibility and affordability for members of the community,” the website continued.

Borrowers can take up to two things at a time for about two weeks, with renewal if the item is not on hold. While there are no late fees, users will be charged for an item if past one week from its return date. Borrowers will need a valid library card and be 14 and older.

The library notes that at this time it is not accepting donations for the collection.
