The West Coast Heritage Railway Park marked its 20th anniversary on Thursday, July 10.

One of Squamish鈥檚 most popular attractions celebrated a significant milestone on Thursday (July 10).听

The West Coast Heritage Railway Park marked its 20th anniversary last Thursday and it鈥檚 been quite a ride for the non-profit society that first opened its doors in 1994.

The park has seen over 700,000 guests visit, with over 60,000 annually checking out the history of the railway in B.C. or other special events. Volunteers have put in over 500,000 hours over the years to keep the park running smoothly and according to park officials an economic impact of $25 million has been created since the park opened.

The park has a collection of 95 railcars and locomotives, which is Western Canada鈥檚 largest collection and it also includes the famous Royal Hudson steam locomotive.

In recent years, the park has seen the addition of the CN Roundhouse Centre, which has attracted events like Thomas the Tank Engine, the Polar Express and Dinosaur Train to Squamish. The park was also the site for a taping of a segment for the Rick Mercer Report earlier this year.听

Those interested in celebrating the park鈥檚 anniversary are invited to attend a gathering at the park on Saturday (July 19).听

The event features a train ride, reception at the CN Roundhouse, dinner and live music. Tickets cost $65 or $500 for a table of eight. The event kicks off with the train ride at 4 p.m. and concludes at 9 p.m.

撸奶社区residents wanting to attend the event can contact the park at 604-898-9336 to book tickets.听
