Friends of a ߣwoman who has helped others cope with the ravages of cancer are asking for donations to help get her through her latest struggle with the disease.
Last month, Michelle Pammenter Young — who in 2013 wrote The Year I Died and The Cancer Warrior Handbook about her struggles with inflammatory breast cancer — underwent surgery to remove a tumour in her brain.
Pammenter Young, who has been described as a “firecracker” and a “hero” for having helped others carry on in the face of the disease, has had to quit working, while her husband has taken a minimum two-month leave from his job, friend Patricia Stoop wrote in an email to The Chief on Sunday (April 6).
Pammenter Young, whose plight was featured in The Chief on March 20, has kept her many friends up to date on her progress via her blog, www.pammenteryoung.com/blog.
“She is one of my heroes and helped me through my very difficult time with metastases and fundraising a year ago,” Stoop wrote.
Those wishing to donate may do so at any VanCity or ߣSavings branch at Account No. 390336 Branch 81, or online at www.gofundme.com/payitfwd-michelle-p-young
