Well-known biologist, conservationist and writer David Hancock will be the first speaker in the Brackendale Eagle Festival's Art of the Natural World speaker series this weekend.
Based in the Lower Mainland, Hancock is known as a dynamic lecturer on topics dealing with West Coast wildlife and Northwest Coast Native art and culture. He is also the author of a number of books including The Bald Eagle of Alaska, B.C. and Washington Tlingit: Their Art and Culture. His is currently working on a book about wildflowers of Alaska and the Yukon.
Hancock is also a noted eagle expert, having set up webcams near eagles' nests that helped provide valuable information about eagle conservation.
Hancock's talk is planned on Sunday (Jan. 9) at 8 p.m. at the Brackendale Art Gallery. Admission is by donation.
