Nearly 3.8 million little ghosts and goblins will be trick-or-treating across Canada on Halloween in their annual hunt for candy.
The number of trick-or-treaters will be up by eight per cent this year, says Statistics Canada as it busted out its sense of humour Monday with a spooky release using data dug up from its 鈥渃rypt.鈥
Federal number crunchers are in the Halloween mood, listing all sorts of related data.
鈥 Number of homes where kids might find treats: 13.3 million.
鈥 Number of farms with pumpkin patches: 2,239.
鈥 Pumpkin production last year: 51,634 tonnes.
鈥 Farm gate value of pumpkins: $18 million.
鈥 Value of monthly sales of candy, confectionery and snack foods in October 2013 at larger retailers: $381.2 million.
鈥 Number of businesses with formal wear and costumes for rent: 182.
