Balding for Dollars is an annual fundraiser in support of children with cancer. The 撸奶社区event takes place tomorrow (May 2) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Adventure Centre. Even if you are not planning to get your head shaved, please come out and show your support. Take part in the barbecue and enjoy the music of the Jocelyn Band, Don Ross Jazz Band, Five on a String and 3rd Octave Down. Donations can also be sent to the B.C. The second annual Hike for Hospice is Sunday (May 3) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You are invited to join members of the 撸奶社区Hospice Society and the 撸奶社区Fire Rescue in a walk around the 撸奶社区waterfront. Pledge forms are available at the 撸奶社区General Hospital, #1 Fire Rescue Reception, Diamond Head Medical Clinic, Dr. Fothergill's office and Garibaldi Graphics.
The 撸奶社区Environmental Conservation Society is holding its monthly bird count on Sunday (May 3) with birders asked to be at the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing Company at 7 a.m. This month the group will be looking for species of warblers and swallows. Team Pura Vida Junior (kids ages two to 10) will sell fresh squeezed gourmet lemonade, coffee and baked treats between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. tomorrow (May 2) in conjunction with the Team Pura Vida garage sale in support of the Relay for Life. The youngsters will be at the main entrance to Jura Park in Garibaldi Highlands and all proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society. The third annual Foyer Soiree at the 撸奶社区Public Library will be held on Monday (May 4) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This special event is open to all Foyer supporters and membership is $50 per year and available at the library. The evening includes a draw for an original artwork by an artist of the gallery, a chance to win a door prize along with a raffle.
Poet Shane Koyczan will be a guest at the 撸奶社区Library on Wednesday (May 6) at 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome. Koyczan is described as humane, furious, sexy, political, tragic and so funny you will laugh through your tears.

The B.C. Cancer Agency's Screening Mammography mobile service is coming to 撸奶社区from May 21 to June 5. Women between the ages of 40 and 79 years are urged to make an appointment and no doctor's referral is necessary. The toll free number is 1-899-663-9203.
The Seventh Annual Bluegrass Festival is set for the Brackendale Art Gallery tonight (May 1) and Saturday (May 2) starting at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets are $30 for the two days or $20 for a single concert and are available at the BAG and The Bookshelf.
The mandate for the 撸奶社区Hospice Society is to promote compassionate care and support directed at those journeying through grief, battling life-threatening illness or facing end of life challenges. The community is invited to a series of chats and information exchanges that may interest you or a family member in such a situation. Hospice Day at the 撸奶社区Public Library will be held on Tuesday (May 5) from noon to 5 p.m. There will be hospice displays, speakers, resources, pamphlets and information available.
Howe Sound Performing Arts Association is pleased to be bringing to 撸奶社区Van Django. An acoustic string ensemble made up of four extremely talented musicians. The concert is planned for Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church. The ticket outlets are Billie's Bouquet, 撸奶社区Adventure Centre and at the door. The prices are $20 adults, $15 for seniors, $5 for students 18 plus and free to youth under 18 years of age.

As of June 30, all normal programs etc. at the Tantalus Seniors' Centre will end as it is hoped the new senior centre will open in September. If you or your group or club have any items to which you claim ownership you are asked to have them removed as soon after June 30 as possible.

Photography in the Garden is the topic of the 撸奶社区Gardeners keynote address this year, to be given by Adam Gibbs, principal photographer for Gardens West magazine and keen wildlife photographer. His talk will be on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the Eagle Eye Theatre.
