Fun, healthy event for kids

13th annual Children's Health Fair attracts over 200 families

It was all about the kids at Brennan Park this past Saturday (May 14).

More than 200 families took over the arena and community hall for the 13th annual Children's Health Fair.

Those in attendance had the opportunity to engage in fun activities like a bouncy castle and bike rides but also had the chance to learn more about health, dental and safety information in Squamish.

"It's always a really popular event," said Julia Black, implementation manager for Sea to Sky Community Services. "It's a great opportunity for families and their kids to learn about health care, the RCMP and other services in a fun way."

For this year, the event was moved a month ahead and was switched from a Friday to Saturday to allow more families the chance to check it out.

"We've always had it on a Friday before and decided to mix it up," Black said. "Part of it was building availability and we also wanted to not have the event set at the same time as so many of the events going on around town in June."

Black said the date of next year's fair is still to be determined but added that with the success of this year's fair, it's likely it could be scheduled for May again.
