The Eagle Watch program officially gets underway on Saturday (Nov. 30) and organizers have a unique challenge for Day 1 of the popular interpretive program.
A photo contest has been announced and all professional and amateur shutterbugs are invited to take pictures of the first day of the event. Submitted photos will be judged and the winner will get his or her picture made into a postcard that Eagle Watch will give away to people who make a donation at the dike.
"The photo must be taken on Saturday and the winning image will be featured on our 2013-'14 season postcard," said Eagle Watch volunteer coordinator Crissy McIntyre. "We will feature the winners name and/or business on the front with the image and it will be available on site by donation throughout the season. It is a great opportunity for the budding photographer or seasoned vet to get their image out there."
The first shift gets underway at 9:30 a.m. at the Eagle Run Dike and will feature the Aboriginal Youth Ambassadors singing a song and blessing the grounds.
Photographers must email their picture to [email protected] by Sunday (Dec. 1) to qualify for the contest. The winner will be selected and announced next week. All photos must be taken on site on Saturday.
Eagle Watch is a volunteer, community-based interpretive program to help visitors at the Eagle Run viewing area understand the eagle and salmon life cycles, and to get a close-up view through telescopes.
